Program Overview

The Academy for Professional Excellence’s programs serve health and human service agencies and community-based social service agencies throughout California and the nation with a primary focus on Southern California. Specialized projects can be negotiated based on your needs.

Responsive Integrated Health Solutions (RIHS)

RIHS provides the County of San Diego Behavioral Health System with staff development services that will increase competency in culture, co-occurring disorders, and resiliency as is required to outreach, assess, and support the recovery of severely mentally ill adults, children, and their families.

Leaders in Action (LIA)

LIA was established as a training program originating from human services directors for an executive talent pipeline to fill executive positions. LIA incorporates evidence-based approaches to succession planning and executive development in a way that is tailored to the needs of the SACHS counties.

Adult Protective Services Workforce Innovations

APSWI is a training program designed to provide a competency-based multidisciplinary training to Adult Services workers and their partners. APSWI’s overarching goal is the professionalization of Adult Service workers to ensure that abused and vulnerable elders receive high quality, effective interventions and services.

Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS)

CWDS is one of five Title IV-E funded child welfare training academies in the state of California. Serving the counties of Imperial, Orange, San Bernardino, San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles and Ventura, we provide a variety of workforce development services including classroom-based and virtual training, coaching and simulation. Additionally, we offer technical assistance, implementation support, leadership development and capacity building services.

Southern Area Consortium of Human Services (SACHS)

SACHS is a partnership between the directors of County Human Service Agencies and Schools of Social Work in the Southern California Region. SACHS provides a forum for directors to address strategic issues facing public human services by engaging in strategy discussions, research, policy development, executive development, and succession planning.

Tribal STAR: Successful Transitions for Adult Readiness

Tribal STAR: Successful Transitions for Adult Readiness

Tribal STAR provides interdisciplinary training and technical assistance to build collaborative partnerships and improve outcomes for Tribal youth. Tribal STAR offers comprehensive, competency-based, interdisciplinary curriculum and training that incorporates current research and best practices in serving foster youth within the Tribal Community.
