Diana Macis, MSW

Ms. Macis received her BA in Psychology from San Diego State University in 1997 and her MSW from San Diego State University in 2010.

Ms. Macis has worked for the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency- Child Welfare Services since 1992. She has worked in various programs which include; Medi-cal, Residential Services and Foster Home Licensing. In 2011 Ms. Macis returned to her work in Child Welfare Services after taking a year and a half hiatus. She has worked in the areas of Court Intervention, Family Reunification and Family Maintenance units. Since 2012 Ms. Macis has been a supervisor for Foster, Adoptive Resource Family Services. She oversees Quality Parenting Initiative, which involves creating and conducting trainings and facilitating the regional implementation plan. Ms. Macis is currently working on Resource Family Approval planning as the co-chair for the training sub-committee for Resource Family Approval and a member of the communication sub-committee.

In 2010 Ms Macis began working for Westcare Family Foundation as a Substance Abuse Counselor. This was a residential treatment program for parenting or pregnant women, who have children under six years old, have a history of substance abuse and had been convicted of a non-violent felony. Ms. Macis facilitated and co-facilitated group therapy sessions on topics such as; anger management, grief and loss, domestic violence and a closed trauma group.

Ms. Macis has been a trainer since 2006 for Grossmont College Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Care Education Program. She currently trains the pre-service trauma informed training, but also assisted in the development of that training. She has developed curriculum for various training topics such as; Importance of Sibling Bond, Transitions for foster youth & team members, understanding how humor play and laughter can be used in working with children who have experienced trauma.

Ms. Macis was a trainer for The Children’s System of Care Training Academy from 1999-2008 and in 2007 received a recognition award for excellence in training.

In addition 2001 Ms. Macis received the Mental Health Services Award of Excellence.
