Dawn Schoonhoven Scott, MSW

Dawn Schoonhoven Scott is the Director of the Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) program at the Academy for Professional Excellence. Ms. Schoonhoven Scott has 17 years of experience in the field of child welfare and 7 years of experience in the field of workforce development. She also has clinical experience in a hospital setting providing counseling services to women at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital.

Her areas of expertise include safety and risk assessment, organizational health, leadership development, curriculum development, Continuous Quality Improvement, classroom training and coaching. She has supported the implementation of Safety Organized Practice, Child and Family Team meetings, the California Core Practice Model, coaching and simulations in the Southern California region. She currently provides direction and management for the CWDS program including oversight of a team of 35 and provision of workforce development, capacity building, technical assistance and organizational support through county and state contracts.
