Intended Audience: This class is intended for Child Welfare and Probation line
workers and supervisors
Description of Course: This one hour eLearning course will explore how to differentiate between sexual orientation and gender identity, identify risk factors and vulnerabilities for LGBTQ young adults, the basics of Fostering Connections After 18/Assembly Bill 12, and how to apply social work interventions in your practice that can assist LGBTQ young adults in taking advantage of the legislation.
Intended Objectives:
- Recognize the legislative intent of Fostering Connections After 18/AB12
- Recognize the eligibility criteria for Fostering Connections After 18/AB12 LGBTQ young adults
- Identify your role in the implementation of Fostering Connections After 18/AB12
- Differentiate between sexual orientation and gender identify

- Identify barriers that LGBTQ young adults face as they strive to participate in Fostering
