Training for Trainers’ Skill Development: Training and Adult Learning Theory

Level: Advanced Practice – (Lineworker, Supervisor, Manager)

Credits: 6

Intended Audience: For experienced lineworkers, supervisors and managers who wish to develop training skills

Intended Objectives:

  • Identify how training is a tool for organizations for employee recruitment, development, and retention
  • Identify how training is a tool for organizations to address organizational change
  • Identify Resources need to for an effective training program within an organization
  • Recognize at least 4 theories on adult learning
  • Identify Sensory Styles of learners
  • Identify training techniques associated with sensory styles
  • Articulate how training can be used effectively by an organization
  • Articulate at least one description of a training management system within an organization
  • Participate in identifying a learning style via completion of a learning style inventory

Topics Include:

  • The role of Training in Organizations
  • Training management systems
  • Resources needed to deliver training as an organization and as a trainer
  • Adult Learning Theory
  • Developing training to sensory styles
  • Identifying Learning Style via taking Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory
  • Developing training via the participant’s identified preferred learning style
