Trainer Biography
Pamela Scott, BA
Pamela has always enjoyed working with others and she knew early on she wanted to make a difference. Pamela earned a bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Her first job after college allowed her to exercise her natural talents by running a Pre-school and Kindergarten program for low-income families in East Los Angeles. In addition to teaching kindergarten and supervising staff she developed a passion for working with parents and the community.
After moving to San Diego Pamela landed a job with the County of San Diego, as a Social Worker I. She spent a year working in Employment and Training; her first experience with coaching and development. Pamela helped her customers develop employment strategies, overcome barriers to employment, with a goal of self-sufficiency.
When the opportunity presented itself, Pamela transferred to Child Welfare Services where she spent 28 years working with children and families, as a social worker, supervisor, and manager. During her time in child Welfare Services, she had the opportunity to work, supervise and manage core programs such as Emergency Response, Continuing Services, Child Abuse Hotline, and the Medically Fragile/DEAF Services Unit. In addition to her core responsibilities Pamela always made time for activities she was passionate about. She assisted in the implementation of Safety Organized Practice as a trainer, she was a member of the Fairness and Equity Committee with a focus on disproportionality and she was among the first graduates of the Cultural Responsiveness Academy.
Although Pamela describes herself as semi-retired, she is far from inactive. She is a trainer for the Academy for Professional Excellence, and a Consultant for Strengths Consulting Group. She enjoys watching people accomplish their goals by utilizing their strengths, maximizing their potential and sharing their achievements with others.
When Pamela is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, reading, exercising, and traveling.
