Shaunna Murtha, LCSW
Shaunna Murtha, LCSW, is a trainer and consultant in the Bay Area, California. Ms. Murtha provides trainings to child welfare professionals, probation staff, school district personnel, foster care providers, foster youth (current and former) and local community based organizations. Ms. Murtha obtained her undergraduate degree in Sociology with an emphasis in serving children and families from Sonoma State University in 1996. She obtained her Master’s in Social Worker (MSW) from San Jose State University in 2006.
Ms. Murtha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who maintains a private practice in Contra Costa County, California. Ms. Murtha has worked in the dependency arena for the past 21 years. For 14 years she worked at Napa County Child Welfare Services in various capacities including: as a Continuing Services Social Worker, a Dependency Investigations Social Worker, the County’s Independent Living Skills Coordinator, as the Extended Foster Care Social Worker and as the Training Supervisor.
Additionally, Ms. Murtha has worked at three Bay Area Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) programs, supervised the operations of a youth crisis shelter, currently teaches at a community college in Northern California and provides supervision for clinical interns prior to licensure. She has a passion for serving children and their families and believes strongly in the power of familial expertise.
