Through a parallel simulation experience, the learners will be equipped with confidence and competence to facilitate simulations, specifically how to: create a safe learning environment; guide the Simulation Learning Processes with powerful questions; interweave applicable learning objectives, framework, values, principles into the learning processes; guide small groups of learners during their simulation interviews of family members; and de-brief the learners individually and as a group to highlight lessons learned and opportunities to improve practice.

Advanced SDM Supervisor Training (2 day, Modules 1-4)
Goals for attending this course are to increase knowledge of overall SDM practice to increase supervisors’ value as a staff resource, learn ways to integrate SDM assessments and decisions into key supervisory processes, consider how the SDM model fits with other agency practices, such as family-centered approaches, team decision making, etc. and gain knowledge and skill to help motivate workers to contribute to better outcomes through quality SDM implementation. This series may be taken in modules. Each module is one half day and there are four modules total.

The course provides training on writing and using harm and danger statements and safety goals with families. It will cover how workers can elicit accurate and detailed information from families and use this information to write clear, concise statements that describe: the past worries in a family that have led to involvement with a public child welfare agency; the future worries for the safety of the child(ren) involved, and the goals for what we hope to accomplish with a family. These statements will guide and organize our work with families.
