Description of Course: This eLearning course is an overview of San Diego County Child Welfare Services (CWS). The course reviews the purpose, philosophy, values and general protocols as well as the tools, terms and abbreviations used in San Diego County Child Welfare Services.
Intended Objectives:
- Describe San Diego County’s Child Welfare system
- Review the purpose, philosophy, values and general protocols of San Diego County
- Child Welfare Services (CWS) and the Safety Enhanced Together (or SET) practice
framework - Review the tools commonly used by child welfare workers including Safety
- Organized Practice (SOP) and Structured Decision Making (SDM)
- Review terms and abbreviations commonly used by child welfare workers
Topics Include:
- CWS vision, mission, core values and top priorities
- Child welfare worker roles, skills, and responsibilities
- Types of child welfare programs, cases, service components, and placement for children
- Child welfare services case flow and the Safety Enhanced Together (SET) practice framework
- Overview of Safety Organized Practice (SOP) and Structured Decision Making (SDM)
