Training for Trainers’ Skill Development: Presentation and Facilitation Skills
Level: Advanced Practice – (Lineworker, Supervisor, Manager)
Credits: 6
Intended Audience: For experienced lineworkers, supervisors and managers who wish to develop training skills. PLEASE NOTE: Participants will be required to prepare to either do a presentation or facilitation as part of the skill building portion of this training. The trainer will contact participants with pre-training instructions.
Intended Objectives:
- Identify at least six components of what are considered good presentation skills.
- Identify best practices for using visual media during a presentation.
- Identify at least three characteristics for effective facilitation in the classroom setting.
- Identify at least five strategies for managing challenging participants in the classroom.
- Identify and discuss at least 3 strategies for working with a multidisciplinary audience and/or participants mandated to attend training.
- Recognize the at least five components for effective co- training.
- Demonstrate presentation skills of the participant’s subject matter.
- Demonstrate facilitation skills of the participant’s subject matter.
Topics Include:
- Review of the components of presenting to an audience.
- Review of strategies in incorporating visual media in presenting.
- Review of skills for effective facilitation in a classroom setting.
- Discussion of considerations when training a multidisciplinary audience and training on mandated topics.
- Identify elements of successful co- training teams.
- Demonstrate either presentation or facilitation skills within the training.
