Trainer Biography
Amanda Carlson, BSW
Amanda Carlson received her BSW from the University of Portland in 2012. As a part of degree completion, Mrs. Carlson interned with an Investigations Child Protective Social Worker with the Oregon Department of Human Services, where she discovered her interest of pursuing a career in Child Welfare.
After relocating to Ventura, CA in 2012, Mrs. Carlson pursued work as a Child Welfare Social Worker for Ventura County Children and Family Services. Mrs. Carlson worked in the areas of Ongoing and Dependency Drug Court. In 2016, Mrs. Carlson transitioned to working as a Foster Family Social Worker with a local Foster Family Agency. In addition to teaming with Ventura County Child Welfare social workers and providing case management support to foster youth and their caregivers, Mrs. Carlson did some recruiting and training of prospective caregivers. As her passion for training developed, Mrs. Carlson began work with a community partner providing direct pre-service training to resource families in Ventura County.
Since 2017, Mrs. Carlson has worked with the Central California Training Academy to provide support and coaching to Ventura County employees as a Field Based Trainer.
