Becky Lanier, LCSW

Ms. Lanier received her BA in Sociology from the University of California at San Diego in 1997 and her MSW from San Diego State University in 2001. Ms. Lanier was a Title IV-E Child Welfare stipend recipient at San Diego State University and began her work in Child Welfare as an MSW Intern in 1999. Ms. Lanier became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in California in 2005.

Ms. Lanier has specialized in the field of Child Welfare since 1999. She began working for San Diego County Child Welfare Services in 2001 and has remained with the Agency for 14 years. She has worked in a variety of programs in Child Welfare Services as a social worker and supervisor including Adoptions, Family Reunification, Family Maintenance, and Intensive Family Preservation Services. Since 2005 she has been a trained facilitator for family team meetings utilizing the Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) model and the Team Decision Making (TDM) model. Ms. Lanier currently supervises a unit of staff who are implementing mental health screening, Child and Family Team (CFT) practice, and Care Coordination under the Core Practice Model (Katie A. mandate) in San Diego County.

Beginning in 2006, when San Diego County implemented Team Decision Making (TDM) meetings, Ms. Lanier provided trainings to Agency staff and supervisors, foster parents, attorneys, and community partners regarding the value of family engagement, consensus building, and TDM policies and practice. Ms. Lanier has also provided ongoing supervision, support, and development for TDM facilitators. Currently Ms. Lanier is providing training to San Diego County Child Welfare Services staff, mental health providers, and community partners regarding the value, purpose, and practice of Child and Family Teams as well as the implementation of the Core Practice Model.
