Lerone Jenkins, MSW
Lerone Jenkins graduated from East Carolina University in 1996 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. In 2005, he graduated from San Diego State University with a Masters Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare in 2005.
During the time between earning his Bachelors and Masters Degrees, he has dedicated his career to the welfare of children and adolescents. He has over 17 years of experience in working with youth and has worked in the areas of children’s mental health, child development, pregnant and parenting teens, family violence, residential counseling and intrafamilial sexual abuse, as well as adult mental health.
In 2005, he began working for the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, Child Welfare Services where he has worked in the Adoptions program. He has 9 years of experience in working with youth and families in the area of adoption as a Childrens worker, where he has held the position of a Senior Protective Services Worker and an acting Supervisor. He is currently the Supervisor for the Relative Home Assessment unit. He has been instrumental in the Safety Organized Practice rollout to the County of San Diego, trained the Safety Organized Practice modules to the County’s Adoption staff, continues to be the Lead staff who conducts in-home safety mappings in efforts to ensure safety and preserve permanency, and conducts training for new Adoptions workers. He is Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (S.A.F.E.) certified and continues to provide guidance as a Field Instructor for San Diego State University MSW candidates.
