Shelly Paule, MSW, LCSW

Shelly Paule, MSW, LCSW is currently a Protective Services Supervisor with HHSA, Child Welfare Services. Ms. Paule graduated with her Bachelors in PSychology from SDSU in 1996. She immediately entered the MSW program through SDSU, completing her degree in 1998. Ms. Paule’s focus in graduate school was mental health. Ms. Paule had two clinical internships, the first in a day treatment facility for the chronically mentally ill, and the second as a Intern Therapist with Kaiser Permanente. Ms. Paule has thirteen years experience as a Protective Services Worker, the last four of which she has been a supervisor.

Ms. Paule obtained her LCSW in 2004 and began working as a clinician part time. Ms. Paule has done more than 150 intake assessments, as well as ongoing therapy. Ms. Paule greatly enjoys using her clinical skills and knowledge as a Field Instructor for the SDSU MSW program. Ms. Paule had the pleasure of running an “intern unit” for two years, completing individual and group supervision. Ms. Paule has supervised more than 20 interns in her 13 years post graduate school. Ms. Paule also provides group and individual supervision for ASW candidates.

Ms. Paule considers the social worker’s role critical to the outcomes that our families experience. Her goal is to train others in the best ways to approach and engage families and children to ensure we can best meet their needs. Ms. Paule’s philosophy is that we are on the same team with our families and that we must work together respectfully to obtain the goals in our case plan and ensure safety for children.
