Catherine Ayers, Ph.D., ABPP
Catherine Ayers, Ph.D., ABPP is a Section Chief at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) La Jolla Mental Health Outpatient Clinics, Associate Professor in the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Department of Psychiatry, Director of the CREST Community Program for older adults with hoarding, and faculty member in the San Diego State University (SDSU)/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Her research is focused on treatment outcomes for obsessive compulsive spectrum and related disorders. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Her research on psychotherapy for hoarding has been funded by the International OCD Foundation (PI). She completed a Career Development Award from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) developing a novel treatment for hoarding and now has an active VA Merit Award (PI) that further investigates behavioral treatments for hoarding in Veterans. Dr. Ayers also directs a San Diego County funded program at UCSD for low income older adults with hoarding at risk for eviction. She is licensed by the state of California with clinical privileges at the VASDHS and is board certified in clinical psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
