Crista Banton,EdD MS

Dr. Banton received her BA in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. She received a MS in counseling psychology in 2004 from California Baptist University, and received another MS in Psychology, Public Administration and Social Change from Walden University in 2013. She received her EdD in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in 2012. She is also a graduate of San Bernardino County’s Management Leadership Academy.

Dr. Banton has specialized in working with special populations since 2000. She began her career working as a social worker for the Department of Public Health-HIV Program from 2000-2004. From there, she transitioned to the University of California San Diego, Department of Psychiatry working with the inmate population who were newly released into the San Bernardino County area, from 2004-2007. In 2007 she went on to work for Children and Family Services as a Social Services Practitioner and then finally from 2008 to the present as a Supervising Social Services Practitioner. In her current position she works with disabled foster children, new program development, minor mothers w/children, and is the current county liaison for ICPC placements out of state. In addition to these activities she works on special projects such as the System Improvement Plan.

Dr. Banton has presented, taught, and trained on the topics of clinical psychology, ICPC, special health care needs for foster children, achievement motivation for high risk youth, residentially based services, integration of corrections and community, abnormal psychology, foster care placement issues and a variety of topics related to child welfare practice.

She is a Board Certified Professional Counselor through the American Psychotherapy Association. She is also a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT).

Dr. Banton also does peer reviews for the University of Riverside and has published book reviews in the CAMFT publication The Therapist on “Developing an Empirically Based Practice Initiative: A Case Study in CPS Supervision” and “Clinical Issues with Interracial Couples”
