Description of Course: This is a one hour eLearning that explores the research and links between father involvement and the outcomes for children and youth. The data
from CWS/CMS, the data base for California Child Welfare, on father identification and utilization of service is presented. Strategies for how to engage fathers in child welfare services as well as barriers to engagement are reviewed.

Intended Objectives: As a result of this course, participants will be able to:

• Recognize the need for and importance of locating and engaging non-custodial
  fathers
• Identify formal and informal support services for non-custodial fathers
• Determine a non-custodial father’s appropriateness as a resource for the child
