Intended Audience: This course is intended for Child Welfare social workers, supervisors and managers as well as Behavioral Health Services staff and contractors who serve San Diego County and who are interested in learning about Pathways to Well-Being, the Katie A. lawsuit and Core Practice Model.
Description of Course: This eLearning course provides an overview of Pathways to Well-Being, the Katie A. lawsuit, precipitating events, settlement, and resulting Core Practice Model (CPM). The course gives an introduction and overview to the components, values and principles of Pathways to Well-Being as well as the criteria for being eligible for enhanced services through Pathways. Finally, the course reviews Intensive Care coordination and Intensive Home-Based Services.
Intended Objectives:
- Review the main components of the Katie A. lawsuit including precipitating events, timeframes, and settlement agreement
- Identify the core values and principles of the Core Practice Model and Pathways to Well-Being
- Review of Intensive Care Coordination and Intensive Home-Based Services
- Identify children who are eligible for enhanced services
Topics Include:
- Pathways to Well-Being
- Katie A. lawsuit and precipitating events
- Distinction between the class and subclass of children served by the CPM
- Review of services provided by the CPM including ICC and IHBS
- Review of San Diego specific core values for Behavioral Health Services, Child
- Welfare Services and San Diego County Health and Human Services
