SOP Module: Solution Focused Inquiry

Intended Audience: This course is intended for social workers, supervisors and managers interested in learning about Safety Organized Practice and the use of solution-focused inquiry in social work practice
Description of Course: The course provides training on what the purpose of solution-focused inquiry is, how to use solution-focused questions at each stage of a child welfare case, and how to connect solution-focused practice with Structured Decision Making (SDM).
Intended Objectives:
- Describe the purpose of solution-focused inquiry
- Use solution-focused questions during interactions with families
- Engage children and families in the assessment process
- Review how solution-focused inquiry links to SDM
- Use an interview as an intervention by focusing not only on gathering information, but on building a trusting relationship and gathering detailed information
