Ken Weston, MSW

Ken Weston began volunteering at a children’s mental health clinic in 1985. He was hired as a social worker and admitted to the newly formed MSW program at CSU, San Bernardino in 1989. Though he dabbled briefly in healthcare, psychiatric acute care, and adult services, he primarily worked in public child welfare as a case worker or supervisor, in four counties, from 1989 until he retired as a Child and Family Team Meeting Facilitator and Field Advisor in August 2020. Ken’s mentoring child welfare social workers in the early 2000s led to his current interests in training, curriculum development, coaching and mentoring. He delivered Safety Organized Practice trainings for Riverside County beginning in 2017, and has developed curricula around court testimony and fatherhood engagement. He currently enjoys child welfare Line Worker Core deliveries, local University and community presentations to foster positive regard for the child welfare profession, and is involved with the Cultural Responsiveness Academy. He enjoys hiking, road trips, and family visits, including a granddaughter, with his spouse, Diana.
