Trainer Biography
Joanna Tol, MSW
Joanna Tol is a Policy Analyst with the County of San Diego, Child Welfare Services (CWS). In this role, she oversees policies and procedures that affect children and families impacted by Human Trafficking (HT) and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). She is currently co-chair of the CWS Subcommittee of the San Diego Regional HT and CSEC Advisory Council. Ms. Tol has a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and a Master’s Degree of Social Work, both from UCLA. She has been serving foster youth and their families in various settings over the last fifteen years in Los Angeles and San Diego. In 2013, Ms. Tol began her career with County of San Diego, Child Welfare Services as a Protective Services Worker in Residential Services directly serving youth experiencing sexual exploitation. Prior to her current role, she was in the CWS Training Unit, which oversees a 10-week training program for new social workers. Over the last five years, Ms. Tol has supported the implementation and growth of the CWS HT and CSEC Program.
