Trainer Biography
Michelle Calder, MSW
Michelle Calder graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995 where she earned her BA in Psychology with an emphasis on Child Development. In 1997 she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville.
Ms. Calder began her career in Child Welfare as a Social Worker for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. She then transitioned within the same Agency and worked as a Community Mental Health Specialist serving children and adults with mental health challenges. After relocating to California in 2000, Ms. Calder began working as a Child Welfare Social Worker for the County of Ventura as an Emergency Response Social Worker. More recently Ms. Calder has been a supervisor in both the Ongoing Services Program and the Emergency Response Program, where she supervised a training unit.
Ms. Calder has a passion for both training and Safety Organized Practice and is always happy to share it. She has played an active role in the implementation and training of Safety Organized Practice in Ventura County. Ms. Calder has trained Social Workers, Supervisors and Managers on Safety Organized Practice and provided trainings for Behavioral Health Clinicians, Public Health Nurses and Court Personnel. Ms. Calder has also developed and delivered trainings on Substance Abuse in several school districts for the State of Kentucky.
