Trainer Biography
Michael A. Juan, Ph.D.
Michael Juan is a Clinical Psychologist practicing in San Diego, California. Currently, he works as a faculty psychologist at San Diego State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Michael is also in private practice providing psychotherapy, training, and consultation services. Additionally, he provides clinical trainings across Southern California and is an adjunct faculty member at a number of local universities.
At SDSU, Michael works directly with students and the university community. He has over a decade of experience in community mental health, serving individuals with severe mental illness as a therapist and clinic manager in South San Diego. Prior to these roles, Michael also has 6 years of experience working in behavioral programs for children and adolescents with autism and other special needs. He completed his B.S. in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego and obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego.
Dr. Juan has remained active in the community through work with numerous non-profit organizations. He has specific interests in the areas of diversity and multicultural counseling, community mental health, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, leadership, identity development, and severe and persistent mental illness. He has a passion for working with diverse and under-served populations.
