Trainer Biography

Michelle Ly, LMFT

Michelle Ly’s pronouns are She/Her and was involved with County Contracted Services for 12 years as a Therapist, AAMFT approved Clinical Supervisor and Director.  During her time at Union of Pan Asian Communities, she received the Advancing Principles award from BHS CYF System of Care in 2016. Michelle utilizes her privilege and positions to advocate for equitable and culturally responsive services that address impacts of marginalization and discrimination.  She has provided multiple trainings to the community at large, education institutions, faith-based communities and service providers focusing on providing culturally responsive services and increasing awareness of mental health symptoms for youth from a cultural lens.  Michelle Ly has developed a respectable reputation as an expert on refugee and immigrant mental health and is often contacted for consultation on approaches to address culturally based barriers in accessing and participation in services.

She is the owner at Collaborative Collaborations providing psychotherapy, training, and consultations. As a child of a refugee family and growing up in diverse low-income communities, Michelle is acutely aware of how culture and intersectional identities plays a significant role in a person’s mental health.  It is with a strong stance that she believes trauma and culturally responsive care is woven into all work and not just as an addition to supportive care.  Michelle has received specialized training in Transgender Affirming Care, Grief, EMDR, TFCBT and Gottman Method.
