Staff Biography

Amanda Barrios Griggs, MT-BC
Masters of Social Work (MSW) Intern

Amanda is a Masters of Social Work student intern at the Academy for Professional Excellence where she works under the Supervision of Emily Sulpizio and the Adult Protective Services Workforce Innovations (APSWI) program. She is in her final year of her MSW program at San Diego State University where her concentration is Administration and Community Development.

Amanda holds a graduate certificate in the music therapy and a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in music performance. Amanda has worked as a board-certified music therapist for six years and previously owned a private practice working with unsheltered communities in San Francisco. Amanda has had the pleasure of working with persons of all ages, as young as two-weeks to 106 years old.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys cultivating an indoor jungle in her apartment, kayaking, making music, and dancing lindy hop. Amanda is a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
